Research: Energy-Efficient Combustion Technologies and Burner Designs for Glass Melting Furnaces
NOIC recently celebrated the first published research to come out of the Innovation Hub! The research was led by the University of Toledo and published in the International Journal of Applied Glass Science. Congratulation to all who worked on this research pushing the boundaries of sustainable glass manufacturing!

This month at the Consortium, the bridge between academic theory and real-world industrial application became stronger than ever. The Hub was buzzing with activity as we welcomed the next generation of glass innovators into the NOIC cullet lab and celebrated a massive milestone: the first official research publication to come out of the Hub’s technical innovation projects. From hands-on laboratory testing to cutting edge clean-technology research, we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in glass manufacturing.

The Glass Recycling Foundation recently awarded $30,000 in grant funding to expand and improve glass recycling efforts in the Greater Toledo area. NOIC has partnered with Recycle Services, Lucas County, O-I Glass, and Owens Corning to bring the Glass Collection & Transportation Enhancement project to life, focusing on long-term sustainability, easing current challenges, and closing gaps in the regional glass recycling ecosystem.
